This Christmas, one phone-maker is set on shaping the world of camera-enabled mobile phones. That company is Sony Ericsson, and they plan to dominate not just the market with high-end camera phones, but bottom-end handsets, too!

It's rather apt, really, that Sony Ericsson are the ones at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift amongst camera-equipped mobile phones. After all, it was they who kicked it all off, way back in 2002. Lest we forget, they were the first manufacturer to unveil a mobile phone with a camera built in, within the British marketplace. That handset was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn't get the mass market penetration Sony Ericsson would've liked, what with it being a really top-end smartphone. But, their most iconic device in history was soon to be unleashed, and that one WOULD get huge mass market appeal. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it moved the goalposts. Here you had a mobile that stood out amongst the crowd of all the other mobile phones around it. It was compact, it was sexy, and the country went MENTAL for it. And, let us remember that the Sony Ericsson T610 also had a built-in camera, and that it was really the first mobile to go to that wider audience, and make them say, 'Wait a sec, we actually do want mobile phones with cameras in!'

Now, the camera phone world has split, into low-end devices, and top-end camera-equipped mobile phones; well, it's fair to say that Sony Ericsson want to rule both!
